Given experience with traders, opening public transport still not finalized: Shahwani

QUETTA: The Spokesman for Government of Balochistan Liaqat Shahwani has said that the death ratio has jumped to 2 percent after easing the traders have failed to follow the SOPs notwithstanding their commitment with government to follow set procedures, resulting in increase of 668 new cases in the ongoing week,

Talking to a private TV channel here he said that these conditions will be difficult to handle. To query with regard to opening up the transport, he said that given the provincial government’s experience with the traders, they have still not reached any decision to open up the public transport for fear of violation of SOPs. He said that now CM would review the situation and would take a decision in this regard, adding that still no vaccine is available for the cure of the disease and a single notification can turn the smart lockdown into a complete one. He said that three PCR machines had been received from NDMA and further equipment are also provided by the NDMA, adding that no one would be allowed to take arbitrary decisions regarding matters of public transport. He said that provincial government has also announced to observe Eid with simplicity to postpone all the public gathering and get-to-gather meetings in order to set an example for the public to remain cautious.

He said that as many as 1.3 million people have been affected by lockdown. Towards the end he appealed to the masses to adopt precautionary measures.
